Dr. Robson F. Storey of the University of Southern Mississippi’s School of Polymers and High Performance Materials is the 2014-2015 Bennett Distinguished Professor and Keynote Speaker at the T.W. Bennett Symposium. The Symposium will be held April 17 at the PSRC Auditorium, University of Southern Mississippi.
The T.W. Bennett Endowment was established at The University of Southern Mississippi by Mr. and Mrs. T.W. Bennett, Sr. in honor of their son and his love for the sciences. Thomas Waring Bennett, Jr. was declared missing in action on December 22, 1972, while serving in the United States Air Force. The Endowment established the Bennett Distinguished Professorship, which is awarded every two years to an exceptional professor in the sciences. Earnings from the endowment are used to support research activities of the Bennett Professor and to sponsor the biennial T.W. Bennett Symposium.
Storey has held a faculty appointment at The University of Southern Mississippi for 31 years. He obtained B.S. degrees in Polymer Science and Mathematics in 1978 from The University of Southern Mississippi, and a Ph.D. in Polymer Science in 1983 from the University of Akron. He worked at American Cyanamid as a research chemist in 1982-1983. His research interests include cationic and ring-opening polymerizations, functional reactive oligomers, block and graft copolymers, star-branched polymers, elastomeric ionomers, and biomedical/biodegradable polymers.
