SEI Chemicals’ GPA-200 Graffiti Proofer Anti-Stick. |
SEI Chemical upgrades graffiti coating
SEI Chemical has reformulated and upgraded the 2-component GPA-200 Graffiti Proofer Anti-Stick coating. This highly durable, fluoro-coating is now a single component with under 20 grams per liter VOC and is compliant in all 50 states. The coating’s dry film has a tremendous durability, chemical resistance and an impressive slip coefficient, according to the company. It can be sprayed, brushed or rolled on and dries in a few short hours. The GPA-200 exceeded the performance requirements of ASTM D6578 Graffiti Resistance Test and graffiti can be removed with a dry towel, pressure washer or any other household cleaners. SEI Chemical synthesizes a fluoro-resin and custom controls the amounts of fluorine and reactive sites within. When incorporated into coatings it provides enhanced longevity, weathering and chemical resistance.

Two new solvent-free silicone roof coatings from West Development Group
West Development Group (WDG) has introduced two new solvent-free silicone roof coatings. HSS 535 and HSS 540 R2R are both one-component, moisture-curing silicone rubber roof coatings designed for use on sprayed-in-place polyurethane foam.
These coatings can be rolled or spray-applied and touch-up work can be done with a brush or a roller. Ready to use on commercial or industrial roofs, these WDG silicone roof coatings should be applied to a dry, frost-free surface. They are tack-free within one to two hours and cure at normal temperatures in two to six hours by reacting with moisture in the air, forming a durable and flexible moisture-free seal.
HSS 535 and HSS 540 R2R are both a dispersion of silicone rubber. Because they are solvent free, which prevents the release of solvents into the air during application, they are environmentally friendly while providing the same functionality as traditional petroleum-based roofing materials. In addition, HSS 540 contains 20% recycled EPDM material that strengthens the silicone coating’s physical properties and keeps old roofing material out of landfills.
Before commercial introduction, the silicone coatings were weather tested in a machine for approximately 10,000 hours to simulate nearly 20 years of exposure to ultraviolet sunlight, moisture, and temperature fluctuation. Following the accelerated weather testing, WDG’s silicone coatings continued to provide UV protection and displayed no evidence of degradation such as cracking, hazing, checking, chalking or loss of film integrity.
HSS 535 and HSS 540 R2R also passed the ASTM E108 flame spread test and obtained Underwriters Laboratories Class A fire rating. Class A roofing systems are effective against severe fire exposures. Other ASTM testing provided ratings for tensile strength, elongation, permeability, and durometer properties. When applied properly, both of these WDG silicone coatings form a seamless, self-flashing seal; resist oxidation, wind-driven rain and snow, as well as ozone; and offer resistance to cracking, peeling, shrinking or becoming brittle and stiff.
Heat resistant coatings

Dampney’s Thurmalox 8886 Series Heat Resistant Coating. |
A line of high performance, two-component silicone copolymer coatings for products exposed to harsh environments and extreme weather conditions has been introduced by Dampney Company, Inc. of Everett, MA.
Dampney Thurmalox 8886 Series Heat Resistant Coatings provide long-term protection in weathering conditions and create a barrier against attack from glycol cooling agents and synthetic lubricants at temperatures up to 450°F. Recommended for use on valves, castings, pumps, sumps, compressors, pipes, exhaust systems and related equipment, these durable two-component silicone copolymer coatings are available in clear, black and custom OEM colors.
Suitable for application by a variety of conventional and airless, HVLP, HTE or assisted airless spray equipment, Dampney Thurmalox 8886 Series Heat Resistant Coatings will adhere well to clean, smooth carbon-, stainless-, blasted-, phosphatized-, primed-steel, and galvanized, copper, aluminum, substrates. It is not recommended for immersion in aromatic hydrocarbons and are offered in one- and five-gallon kits.
Coating for surface preparation from Cortec
Cortec's VpCI-440 is a surface pre-treatment offering a unified solution for multi-metal substrate protection against corrosion while preparing metals for surface bonding and coating. VpCI-440 is a non-toxic, non-hazardous, water-based coating, which provides optimal paint adhesion and improved corrosion resistance. This coating is specifically designed to replace phosphatizing and chromating systems and does not require the use of biocides. It can be applied with conventional equipment such as sprayers, dipping tanks, steam cleaners and power washers.
Enviroline introduces exterior coating, color chart
Enviroline Group has introduced Envirothane 550 to complement its complete line of interior high performance coatings and linings. Envirothane 550 is a two-component high gloss urethane coating designed for industrial and commercial applications requiring excellent gloss and color retention as well as superior UV, chemical, abrasion and moisture resistance. It is available in 22 standard colors, including five safety colors.
To support the introduction of an exterior coating, where color selection is more important than with interior industrial applications, Enviroline has also introduced its Enviroline Color Selector Chart. Owners and specifiers can view and select from the color chips of seven standard interior Enviroline colors, 19 standard exterior Envirothane colors, five safety colors and four standard primer colors for applicable Enviroline Group coatings and linings.
Epoxy sealer penetrates deep to protect concrete & masonry
The Steelcote division of Chemline has introduced Floor-Nu Penetrating Sealer, a two-component clear epoxy for sealing and deeply penetrating concrete or masonry surfaces against the effects of moisture, freeze/thaw cycles, salts, oils and specific chemicals.
Floor-Nu Penetrating Sealer locks in loose aggregate on the surface and it forms a hard, impenetrable sub-surface. This product is a clear, high solids—48% by volume—coating which possesses a water-thin viscosity. This thin viscosity allows it to deeply penetrate as much as a quarter-inch into the pores of concrete or masonry surfaces.
Loctite introduces Quickstix Primer

Loctite QuickStix 7088 Primer enhances performance and accelerates cure of anaerobic machinery adhesives used in threadlocking, thread sealing, gasketing and retaining applications. |
Loctite’s new QuickStix 7088 Primer is the first semisolid primer available to enhance the performance and speed the cure of anaerobic machinery adhesives used in threadlocking, thread sealing, gasketing and retaining applications, according to the company. This semisolid primer actually is more effective than liquid primers in speeding adhesive cure.
Loctite QuickStix 7088 Primer is recommended for use on plated, anodized and galvanized parts, and inactive metals such as titanium, zinc, aluminum and others. It is especially effective on cold metals and challenging assemblies that feature large gaps or deep threads.
The new environmentally friendly primer is solvent-free and VOC compliant, and exhibits reduced odor and decreased flammability over liquid primers. The pocket-sized 17-gram self-feeding stick applicator is ideal for use on overhead or hard-to-reach applications. Patented worldwide and available only from Henkel Corporation, this is the first anaerobic primer in a semisolid form.
Daimler Trucks NA chooses two DuPont primers

The Freightliner Cascadia uses DuPont coatings. |
Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) has approved DuPont CorMax VI and ElectroShield 21 cathodic epoxy electrodeposition primers for use on all DTNA truck bodies and parts. DTNA brands include Freightliner, Sterling and Western Star.
The DTNA approval process is rigorous and requires testing of more than 1,000 laboratory and field-produced panels. Success resulted from an intensive “One DuPont” effort from many DuPont technical and field personnel at various locations throughout North America.
CorMax VI and ElectroShield 21 products provide corrosion and chemical resistance, and serve as suitable primers for Class A topcoat finishes. |
