Welcome to Shamrock Technologies
Founded in 1941, Shamrock Technologies is the world's largest producer of micronized polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), as well as a leading worldwide manufacturer and supplier of a broad line of specialty micronized powders, dispersions, emulsions, and compounds including PTFE, polyethylene, polypropylene, fluoropolymers, custom wax alloys, natural waxes, and other specialty additives. Our materials are found in Inks and Coatings, Thermoplastics, Lubes and Greases, Elastomers, Personal Care products, and many more applications. Through advanced technology, custom production equipment, and state-of-the-art application and R&D laboratories, Shamrock creates excellent products to help customers meet their challenging formulation needs.
About Shamrock Technologies
Shamrock pioneered the development of PTFE and wax additives in the 1970s, first for inks and coatings, and later for a wide range of applications including lubricants, personal care products, polymer additives, and many more. Known for producing an extensive line of problem-solvers, our additives include powders, compounds and dispersions that enhance inks and coatings by controlling slip, rub/abrasion resistance, texture, water pick-up and bleed. Shamrock has emerged as a trusted partner for the ink and coatings formulator because the company combines industry experts with advanced technology, custom production equipment, and state-of-the-art application and R&D laboratories.
Service First & Foremost
Top-notch customer service is our bottom line, and a key driver behind Shamrock's significant commitment to research and development. Our chemists, scientists and engineers are highly trained experts in all applications industries and bring valuable first-hand knowledge to meet customer needs. Our international Sales Network ensures that each customer receives optimal attention and support. The Sales Network is backed by our Customer Service team of industry-experienced specialists that works on a whole variety of details like scheduling, normal and special deliveries, warehousing, and many others, that can really make a difference for customers worldwide. Our Product Technical Center (PTC), available at 973-242-2999 Ext. 4, is also staffed with technical professionals having backgrounds in a variety of key industries, services all major applications, and prides itself on its enviable record of prompt responses to questions from customers and formulators.
For nearly 75 years, Shamrock has been the innovator and pioneer in developing tribological additives, that is, materials to resist rubbing, abrasion, wear, and providing slip or low coefficient of friction. Examples include micronized PTFE, wax, and dispersions of these. PTFE is at the heart of what we do. That's in part because it's one of the slipperiest materials known to man. To be useful as an additive to other materials such as grease, ink, plastics, cosmetics, coatings and other materials that you may think of, it must be in a form which can be incorporated – micronized. That's where Shamrock's unique technical capabilities come into play. We were the first to introduce micronized wax for printing ink and also first to introduce the use of PTFE in combination with wax. Over the years, the company has expanded its capabilities with technology advancements and constant improvement. Today, we have a great team of people and over a half million square feet of manufacturing operations at six facilities on three continents.
Products and Services
Our product line is extensive, and includes PTFE, waxes, micronized powders, dispersions, emulsions, polyethylene, polypropylene, fluoropolymers, custom wax alloys, and specialty additives. These products enhance coatings by controlling slip, rub/abrasion resistance, rheology, water pick-up, and bleed.
Our extensive list of products is summarized in a number of documents, segmented by industry application. Keep in mind, though, that virtually all of Shamrock's products have been custom-engineered through collaboration with our customers, achieving just the right balance between key features and benefits and specific customer needs.
"The Name Behind the Great Names" From the earliest days, Shamrock has associated with some of the most impressive and recognizable brands in international commerce and industry. William Neuberg, father of Shamrock founder William D. Neuberg, began this trend by supplying products to Henry Bristol, general manager of Bristol-Myers and son of co-founder William Bristol. Their relationship was built on a trade acceptance or open account agreement that represented the mutual trust and respect they shared for each other.
Patterned after this model, Shamrock has fashioned similar relationships over the years with customers and end-users alike, forged out of a passion for innovation, collaboration, product performance, product quality, and value pricing. And during these years of growth, Shamrock Technologies developed a pride in its role and its reputation as “The Name Behind the Names” for the application of inks, coatings, additives and fluoropolymers.
As it has in the past, Shamrock is destined to add new names to a stellar roster of industry leaders. And these names will come from the introduction of new products now in the pipeline, products that: will extend the life of world currencies; just may become the most important breakthrough in performance outerwear since GORE-TEX® apparel and SPEEDO® swimwear; and could make the elimination of world hunger a practical possibility.
