Akzo Acquires ICI's wood business in Germany

Akzo Nobel has acquired ICI Group‚s Zweihorn Gmbh, a maker of industrial wood finishes for the professional joinery sector with sales of approximately 18 million in 2004.

Akzo Nobel will acquire all shares of Zweihorn, which has 55 employees and is based in Hilden, Germany. Financial terms have not been disclosed.

"Zweihorn's clients and products are a good addition and form a perfect fit withour existing customers and wood care portfolio," said Leif Abildgaard, general manager of Akzo Nobel's  Decorative Coatings Europe business.
