 Eastman Chemical Company: The company
announced the election by its
board of directors of J. Brian
Ferguson as chairman and CEO,
effective Jan. 1, 2002. Mr. Ferguson,
47, is currently president of
Eastman’s chemicals group. He began
his career with Eastman Chemical
Company in 1977 as a chemical engineer,
and has held a variety of manufacturing
and corporate assignments,
including serving as vice president of
industry and federal affairs, president
of the polymers group and managing
director of Eastman’s operations
in Asia/Pacific.
Eastman also announced a new
corporate structure that will enable
the company to operate two independent
divisions: Eastman
Company and Voridian Company.
This structure will enable each division
to continue to pursue its separate
strategies for growth, operational
efficiencies and customer focus
under one corporate entity.
In addition, the board elected Alan
R. Rothwell as executive vice president
of Eastman Chemical Company.
Mr. Ferguson has appointed Mr.
Rothwell president of Voridian
Company, effective Jan. 1, 2002. Mr.
Rothwell is currently president of
Eastman’s polymers group. After joining
the company in 1969 as a
chemist, he held positions in marketing,
product development and subsequently
served as manager of
Eastman’s operations in Japan and
Korea. He was later named vice president,
corporate development and
strategy and has also served as chief
financial officer.
The board also announced that Jim
Rogers will continue his role as senior
vice president and chief financial
officer. He will also serve as chief
operations officer of Eastman
Chemical Company.
Theresa Lee will serve as senior vice
president, general counsel and secretary
of Eastman Chemical Company,
while also serving as general counsel
for Eastman Chemical Company.
