l Keeping paint inside the can rather than around the rim can be quite a challenge. No matter how hard a consumer tries, paint seems to dry up in the rim and make quite a mess. But there might be a new solution to this age-old problem. Nevada high school senior Christopher Yocum has developed a paint saving device that allows paint to drain back into the can and creates an airtight seal, preserving paint for future use. For his unique solution, Mr. Yocum was awarded the Lemelson Young Inventor scholarship.
Mr. Yocum will now focus on applying for a patent for his new invention. The scholarship competition is open to high school students in Washoe County, NV. Applicants were required to submit an invention with a commercial application and conduct a patent search.
