Benjamin Moore’s EcoSpec paint line has earned Greenguard certification, making the paint company the first with a certified low-emitting paint, according to Greenguard Environmental Institute, an independent, non-profit organization based in Atlanta, GA.
To earn the status, Benjamin Moore’s coatings underwent a series of rigorous emissions tests for levels of VOC. Greenguard contends that EcoSpec paints are low-emitting and have minimal impact on air quality, according to its standards, which are based on requirements used by the state of Washington and the U.S. EPA.
“As the first paint manufacturer with certified low emitting paint, Benjamin Moore takes a leadership role in the industry,” said Henning Bloech, Greenguard’s director of communications. “Now with EcoSpec, facility managers and homeowners who want to support best green building practices have a premium paint to use–one that, based on our standards, has no adverse environmental impact on either indoor or outdoor air quality.”
