technical cooperation agreement relating to DuPont’s automotive OEM coatings technology and
application know-how. The two firms have had a working relationship for 20 years involving a
technical licensing agreement covering electrodeposition primer coatings. Specific terms of this
latest accord were not disclosed.
KCC is the largest automotive coatings supplier in Korea and is a primary supplier to Hyundai
Motor Company and Kia Motor Company.
“We are pleased to form this agreement with such a growing and capable coatings supplier in
Korea,” said John R. Lewis, vice president and general manager, DuPont Performance Coatings.
“This agreement will allow us to collaborate and promote the use of advanced technologies that are
required to meet the automotive industry’s worldwide performance and environmental standards.”
M.J. Chung, chairman of KCC, said the agreement will permit KCC to more rapidly strengthen
its technical capabilities as it meets “the needs of Korean automobile manufacturers that are
rapidly expanding operations around the world.”
KCC was ranked 33rd in Coatings World’s 2002 Top Companies Report (see July 2002 issue).
