A PPG-Helios joint venture has won a five-year contract with AutoVAZ to provide the Russian vehicle maker with chemical management at its new paint shop in Togliatte.
The JV—which has been handling process management services for AutoVAZ since February—will use the PPG Total Service Solutions division to run the automotive coating process in all key areas of the paint shop for the new Lada Kalina line of compact cars. In addition to pretreatment, electropaint, paint mix room and spray responsibility, PPG-Helios will be providing paint and chemical expertise to the facility.
“By utilizing our extensive knowledge of the paint process, AutoVAZ can become even more competitive and reduce overhead,” said Mark Charles, managing director, PPG-Helios. “It also enables PPG-Helios to strengthen its position as the leading supplier of coatings in the Russian automotive industry.”
The accord marks PPG Total Service Solution’s first accord in Eastern Europe
