PPG acquires coatings manufacturer Vanex

PPG Industries has acquired Vanex, Inc., Mount Vernon, IL. Founded in 1964, privately-held Vanex is a supplier of Plascron and Breakthrough brand water-based industrial coatings for use on metal, plastic and wood in the structural steel, building systems, construction and fabricated metals industries. Vanex operates one manufacturing facility in Mount Vernon and employs approximately 20 people.

"The addition of the Vanex facility and a strong team of experienced, customer-focused employees will add more capabilities to the PPG TrueFinish business," said Keith Prins, general manager for PPG TrueFinish industrial coatings.

"The Vanex waterborne coatings are a strong complement to the PPG TrueFinish product offering," said William Wulfsohn, PPG senior vice president of coatings. "What's more, this acquisition will enhance our ability to provide fast turnaround and leading-edge technologies to our customers."

The PPG TrueFinish business provides a range of liquid and powder coatings to manufacturers, custom coaters and distributors throughout North America.
