Spanish paint company Barnices Valentine hosted the Fall 2009 Nova Paint Club Conference in Barcelona from Oct. 26-30. The conference brought together Nova board members and technical and purchasing committee members to discuss joint strategies to tackle the current challenges facing coatings companies worldwide.
Attendees benefitted from presentations by international suppliers on vital issues including innovative coatings technologies and new approaches to cost-effective formulating. Delegates were also shown around Barnices Valentine’s new facilities near Barcelona. Barnices Valentine is part of the Portuguese CIN Group, Iberia’s leading paint organization and a founding member of the Nova Paint Club.
“We were delighted to host this important event and to have once again benefited from the knowledge and experience within the worldwide Nova membership,” said João Serrenho, CIN Group chief executive. Serrenho, who was appointed Nova Club president at the meeting, replacing Miguel Rodriguez of Sinteplast, added, “I am looking forward to my term of office and will work hard to maintain the momentum that has been generated at this excellent event.”
The outgoing president was presented with a Nova Gold Award in recognition of his services to the organization. Serrenho was also congratulated by the Nova delegates on his recent election as president of CEPE, the European Council of Paint Producers.
