PPG Coatings Help Brazil, Fans Celebrate 2014 FIFA WORLD CUP

July 2, 2014

PPG Industries’ coatings have helped Brazil put on a fresh, colorful appearance for the 2014 FIFA WORLD CUP event.

PPG products ranging from Tintas RENNER architectural coatings, manufactured in Gravataí, Brazil, to STEELGUARD fire protection coatings were used to prepare prominent venues such as Beira-Rio Stadium in Porto Alegre and arenas in Curitiba, Recife and Natal. PPG coatings products also were used to renovate hotels and airports in São Paulo, Campinas and Recife, and to update transportation systems.

“There are so many projects where PPG’s products have been used that we can’t begin to name them all,” said Carlos Santa Cruz, PPG managing director, Brazil and South America. “Major events like this one generate opportunities to support infrastructure improvements in host cities. As a world leader in paints and coatings, PPG has worked hard to ensure we are a prominent player in these important and highly visible projects.”

In addition, PPG packaging coatings cover the inside and outside of a “bottlecan” for BRAHMA beer’s limited-edition Selecao Especial beverage. The beer, produced by Anheuser-Busch InBev, incorporates a select crop of barley grown on a famous Brazilian soccer pitch.
