Durability + Design, a Technology Publishing Company magazine focusing on building performance and aesthetics, is seeking titles and abstracts of papers to be submitted as part of D+D 2015, The Durability + Design Conference and Exhibition. The conference will be held in Miami, Fla. at the Eden Roc Hotel on June 8-10, 2015. With a theme of Building Smarter, D+D 2015 will examine protective and aesthetic technologies contributing to building performance.
Specifiers, architects, contractors, facility owners and other building professionals with an interest in achieving excellence in the use of surface technologies are invited to attend D+D 2015. The conference will be held at the Eden Roc oceanfront hotel, which was designed by famed architect Morris Lapidus. The hotel is one of many that came to define the 1950s resort-hotel style synonymous with Miami and Miami Beach.
In addition to presentations from the nation's building experts, several technical societies and industry associations are expected to develop and lead their own sessions at the event.
Sustainable Topics Invited
For next year's conference, organizers are seeking papers focused on sustainable technologies and materials that contribute to building performance and aesthetics.
Examples of technologies being considered include air/vapor barriers and roof coatings, as well as those intended to provide aesthetics and durability to building substrates, such as sealers, coatings, concrete finishes, fire-resistive materials and others. Presentations will also focus on sustainable features of these technologies, such as minimizing life cycle costs, using bio-based raw materials and eliminating hazardous and smog-creating air pollutants.
To be considered as a presenter for D+D 2015, please submit titles and abstracts of 150–250 words to Harold Hower (hhower@durabilityanddesign.com) or Gina Johnson (gjohnson
@durabilityanddesign.com). Abstracts must be received by Aug. 15, 2014.
