Preferred Technology, an affiliate of Preferred Sands, which is one of North America’s leading proppant technology companies, and The Dow Chemical Company have increaseded production and capacity of DustPRO, the only cost-effective preventative proppant solution that limits silica dust exposure and meets all current and proposed OSHA standards. The companies are increasing production to service customer demand as a direct result of multiple successful wells, which found all air sampling around workers to be below both the current and proposed OSHA standards for silica sand permissible exposure limits.
The DustPRO patent-pending application system is a cost-effective, preventative solution that helps control respirable silica and fugitive dust through all sand transfer points in the proppant supply chain. This solution features Dow’s patent-pending Preferred DC technology. The proprietary DustPRO application systems are now operational at Preferred’s terminal in Henderson, Colo. and at Preferred Sands of Genoa, NE. Additional installations are underway at Preferred Sands of Blair, Wis. and Sanders, AZ. DustPRO can be applied at the sand origin site or at a distribution terminal. The system increases well-site efficiency and safety by eliminating the need for bulky mechanical silica dust collection apparatus.
