Benjamin Moore announced the recipients of its 2014 HUE Awards last evening in New York City. Hosted by Barneys New York Creative Ambassador-at-Large Simon Doonan, the ceremony honored six luminaries in the design world including iconic decorator Mario Buatta and fashion designer Trina Turk. Following the awards presentation, Nate Campany & The Serenade performed an exclusive concert for honorees and guests.
For the first time, Benjamin Moore partnered with the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA), the leading not-for-profit trade association of America’s foremost womenswear, menswear, jewelry and accessory designers, to introduce a new category to the HUE Awards – the CFDA Trailblazer Award. California-based fashion designer Trina Turk was recognized with this inaugural award for her remarkably colorful and bold designs across all of her product categories which include womenswear, a menswear line - Mr Turk, swimwear, jewelry, footwear, handbags and home decor and textiles.
Now in its sixth year, the 2014 HUE Awards also recognized individuals and organizations in the following categories:
Residential Interior Award Winner: Jeff Andrews - Design
The Los Angeles-based interior designer creates sophisticated and livable interiors for families and celebrities alike. Andrews is known for taking bold design concepts and infusing them with warmth, sophistication and a sense of home.
Public Spaces Award Winner: EverGreene Architectural Arts
The New York-based specialty contractor and design studio is known for its work in interior restoration, conservation, decoration and new design.
Commercial Interior Award Winner: Martyn Lawrence Bullard Design
Bullard is a multi-award-winning Los Angeles based interior designer and is renowned for his broad range of styles and eclectic, yet sophisticated and always inviting interiors.
Eco Design Award Winner: Bergmeyer Associates, Inc.
Bergmeyer is a mid-sized architecture and interior design firm based in Boston, Mass., that is committed to sustainable design and environmental stewardship in its designs for residential and commercial spaces.
Icon Award Winner: Mario Buatta
Internationally acclaimed New York-based interior designer has a long and storied 50-plus years career designing homes for clients in the world of entertainment, business, fashion and high society.
Each honoree received a hand-crafted glass HUEY sculpture. Since its inception, the HUE Awards has been Benjamin Moore’s signature event recognizing exceptional use of color in architectural design. Past HUE Awards recipients include Jamie Drake, Envision Design, David Rockwell, STUDIOS Architecture, Make It Right, TVS Interiors and Clive Wilkinson.
