The American Coatings Association (ACA) has announced that Gregg Smith, managing director for Cabot Corporation’s New Business Development and Scouting group, will deliver the Technical Focus Lecture at its CoatingsTech Conference, March 9-11, 2015, at the Marriott Louisville Downtown in Louisville, Ky. The CoatingsTech Conference is the coatings industry's leading technical event, and will embrace the theme, “Innovation! Infrastructure! Efficiency!”
In his role at Cabot, Smith leads the company’s corporate efforts to develop new growth opportunities for performance materials and scouts for new technologies. He also leads the company’s development efforts for applications development and production of graphene materials.
Smith possesses 25 years of experience with Cabot in a number of technical and business roles; he has extensive customer engagement across myriad application areas and was a founder for Cabot’s Inkjet business. Additionally, he has developed and launched multiple new products in the energy materials, toners, composites, ink jet and other segments. Smith also has broad experience across Cabot’s business and geographic operating areas: he was responsible for Cabot’s European Tire and Mechanical Rubber Goods business and in Asia as managing director for Cabot Malaysia business and operations.
Smith has an M.S. in Chemical Engineering and an MBA.
In addition to the Technical Focus Lecture, the CoatingsTech Conference will include the Mattiello Memorial Lecture, Roon Award competition papers, Gordon Best Paper competition, and student poster presentations, and will feature a multi-track forum for all professionals in the coatings industry.
Leading the conference will be two informative Technology Short Courses, to be offered on Monday. In addition, tabletop exhibits held during the event will feature displays of the most recent innovations in products and services offered to the industry.
