PPG Industries’ flat glass business has named Stephen Cohen as national architectural manager, northeast region, and George Sultage as national architectural manager, mid-Atlantic region.
Cohen joins PPG from Schott North America, Elmsford, New York, where he spent 20 years in sales and product management posts, most recently as national sales manager, architecture. In his new position, Cohen will support architects and glazing contractors from New York City north to the Canadian border.
Glenn T. Miner, PPG director of construction, flat glass, said Cohen is well-suited to his new role. “Steve’s experience dealing with the complexities of architectural glass and his familiarity with designers and their needs in that part of the country will be an asset to them and us,” he explained.
Cohen, who earned a B.S. in Architecture from Penn State, will be based in the New York City area.
Sultage, who previously covered both the northeast and mid-Atlantic regions, will now focus exclusively on the latter territory, which stretches from upstate New York south to Washington, D.C., and west to Kentucky.
Miner said the appointments of Cohen and Sultage were related to a strategic decision to enhance coverage in the two large and demanding sales regions with high numbers of architects and glazing contractors.
“George was extremely successful in his efforts to support architects, designers and glaziers all the way up the Atlantic coast,” he explained. “Now, with Steve and George covering those areas, we have two seasoned professionals with concentrated resources ready to meet the demands of our customers.”
Prior to joining PPG, Sultage worked for TSI Exterior Wall Systems, Upper Marlboro, Maryland, and Trainor Glass Company, Elkridge, Maryland, among others. A 16-year veteran of the glass and architectural industries with two degrees from Pittsburgh Technical Institute, Sultage has expertise in glass specification, customer support and project tracking from initial bid through completion. His office is in Mechanicsville, Maryland.
