In celebration of BASF’s 150th anniversary, employees from the company’s Mississauga headquarters teamed up with Credit Valley Conservation (CVC) to plant 150 trees on Earth Day. Employees exercised their green thumbs at Indian Summer Trail Park in Mississauga, which was identified as an area in need of reforestation. BASF Canada also made a $3,000 financial contribution to help support the CVC Foundation.
“To mark BASF’s 150th anniversary, we are celebrating our history, and looking ahead to the next 150 years. We are identifying ways to innovate and collaborate to address global challenges. For this reason, we encouraged our employees to use Earth Day as an opportunity to support our community and make a positive impact on our environment,” said Carles Navarro, President of BASF Canada. “We are pleased to support CVC’s efforts to protect and restore the Credit River Watershed.”
CVC encourages tree planting to help restore and improve communities by increasing forest cover, fighting climate change, improving the quality of the natural environment and attracting more wildlife.
“Tree plantings are a great way to positively impact the health of the environment because they benefit water, air and soil quality,” said Mike Puddister, Director of Restoration and Stewardship for CVC. “BASF’s 150th anniversary is an important milestone in the company’s history and it is a pleasure to work with their staff to mark the occasion in such a fitting way.”
