BASF donated $5,000 to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metropolitan Detroit (BBBSMD). The donation will help the agency provide professional one-to-one mentoring to children facing adversity; and raise awareness about the need for adults to volunteer to become a BIG. BASF has been supporting the agency since 1989.
“We want to give a big thank you to BASF Corporation for your partnership with our agency,” said Cheryl Haithco, Vice President of Development, BBBSMD. “To show our gratitude for the support you give Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metropolitan Detroit, we are honoring BASF as our July Partner of the Month. We are extremely grateful for BASF’s generous support over the years and look forward to our continued alliance to Start Something BIG! in a child’s life.”
“The thanks should go to the men and women BIG mentors who dedicate the time, consistency and direction required to help children improve academically, make smart choices and achieve their aspirations,” said Karen Cummins, BASF’s Manager of Business Services. “These children are our future scientists and engineers.”
BASF sponsored BBBSMD’s July 23 Annual Meeting in support of the Clifford P. Norman Award, an award that honors a board member who exemplifies the same quality of commitment and generosity as the late Clifford Norman. Mr. Norman, a BASF employee, was an active member of the BBBSMD and the Big Brothers Big Sisters of America board for more than 26 years. Each year Big Brothers Big Sisters agencies across the US select a recipient to be honored with this prestigious award.
