For the past few years, Chemical Coaters Association International chapters have held events during the month of December to benefit charitable organizations collecting toys for children. This year the Southern California Chapter, the Central States Chapter and the Wisconsin Chapter conducted toy drives during December events. In addition, the Twin Cities Chapter made a cash donation to their local Toys for Tots organization.
The Southern California Chapter held its 4th Annual Toys for Tots Golf Outing on December 7th in Pasadena, CA. There were approximately 70 golfers who participated in the outing and toy drive. Eight marines, who were on hand to collect toys also got the opportunity to play a round of golf thanks to several corporate sponsorships. Chapter president Ron Lum was pleased to report, "Our industry and association have some of the most generous people. Thanks to all our attendees we exceeded our toy donation goal and collected 521 toys. This will have a huge impact on many children and families this holiday season." Ron also recognized the support he received to make the event a great success. "A special thank you to our generous sponsors, the marines of Seal Beach, and Shivie Dhillon of Sundial Powder Coating,” Ron stated. “Shivie's sponsorship of all the evenings’ food and festivities at Kings Row Gastropub made for an amazing close to the day's events and was very appreciated by all who attended."
The Central States chapter held a dinner meeting alongside their annual Toys for Tots campaign. The meeting included a presentation on NFPA Dust Standards with a guest speaker from Camfil. They also invited a local marine to assist in the toy collection. The evening concluded with a donation of $425 and a table full of toys for the marines to distribute and make for happier holidays for children in the Kansas City area.
