Wagner has introduced new AquaCoat systems 5010 and 5020. The new "AquaCoat 5010" basic unit with a slim cabinet measuring just 80 centimeters satisfies the demands of customers for a quick return on investment (ROI). In addition to the cabinet including control unit, the basic set also contains a pump set and the electrostatic manual gun GM 5020. This is based on the GM 5000 manual gun and features a smooth, homogenous spray jet.
According to Wagner, separating agents are indispensable process materials. During the manufacture of plastic components, they form the critical barrier layer between the tool and plastic mass. The processing of polyurethane foams is particularly challenging. Here, separating agents ensure that the foam body can be removed from the mold intact, as well as an improved look and surface finish quality. For a long time, solvent-based separating agents were primarily used for this purpose. However, due to the EU directive governing solvents, development is clearly heading toward more environmentally friendly, water-based materials.
They can be applied particularly efficiently using electrostatic systems: The injection mold is grounded while voltage is applied to the separating agent. This causes the separating agent to be "attracted" to the injection mold. The result is a highly uniform coating, an improved application efficiency with up to 50 percent less material consumption, less pollution, and as a result of this, less cleaning is also required compared to conventional coating methods.
This complete package makes the system interesting for manufacturers of plastic molded parts in all sectors – whether in the automotive supply industry for the interior trim or other industries, such as mattresses, shoe soles, toys, or household appliances. Beyond the basic set, Wagner configures individual systems to suit every requirement. It is not only water-based separating agents that can be perfectly applied using the new AquaCoat systems. The equipment is also ideally suited to water-based primers, paints, or glues.
