The Boulevard Club in Toronto features one of the first major installations of AVIPROTEK with SOLARBAN glass, an environmentally advanced architectural glass that unites bird-friendly, acid-etched patterns by WALKER TEXTURES glass with high-performance solar control low-emissivity (low-e) coatings by PPG.
Teeple Architect specified the product—which incorporates a dot pattern that birds can see and avoid on the first (outer) surface of the insulating glass unit (IGU) and Solarban 60 glass by PPG on the second (interior) surface—to meet the Bird-Friendly Development Guidelines in the Toronto Green Standard. AviProtek glass is available in three patterns developed by bird researchers and can be applied to clear and STARPHIRE ULTRA-CLEAR glass substrates by PPG. When combined with Solarban 60 or Solarban 70XL glass, the glazing helps protect wildlife and the environment by reducing bird injury and mortality and enabling buildings to use less energy.
