In April the PaintExpo, the world’s major trade fair for industrial paint technology, took place in Karlsruhe. Mankiewicz, a globally operating paint manufacturer, presented its wide product range. This year, the producer of high-quality paint systems concentrated on the sectors of mechanical engineering, agricultural and construction vehicles, automotive and powertrain. The main focus was on the presentation of the powertrain paint systems for vehicle manufacturers.
In 2015, over 90 million vehicles were sold worldwide. As one of the leading suppliers for automotive interior paint systems Mankiewicz has already been very successful in this sector. The company’s newly established “powertrain” market segment focuses on powertrain components.
Axles, drive shafts, shock absorbers, brakes and gearboxes are the parts that literally move a vehicle by transmitting energy, while being subjected to extreme stress. On the one hand, the Mankiewicz paint systems protect these components against external influences; on the other hand, they help the component manufacturers comply with the high quality standards of the automotive industry. Ensuring high protection against corrosion, this procedure not only applies to the life span of a product, but also to the complete production process. The automotive industry is characterized by just-in-time production, process cost reduction and high environmental specifications and therefore demands the continuous development of trendsetting products.
The powertrain portfolio meets all these demands: The focus is on water-dilutable, nearly VOC-free two-component epoxy paint systems ensuring robust and safe processes. After oven-drying and a short cooling time, the painted components are ready for packaging. The paint systems even exceed all common OEM specifications – with single-layer application! Solvent-based two-component high-solid systems with a solid content over 80 per cent (ready-to-spray mixture) complement the portfolio.
Know-how of the customers’ pretreatment and application processes is just as important as an excellent product portfolio. High-speed painting with disc or bell is frequently supported by electrostatics – this is not necessarily a standard procedure in the automotive supplier industry but mastered by Mankiewicz. These excellent conditions enable Mankiewicz to supply this industrial sector with innovative products, technical know-how and presence all over the world.
