Sherwin-Williams Protective & Marine Coatings has expanded access of its popular Water & Wastewater App to smartphone users, making protective coating recommendations readily available to users anywhere they are. The original tablet version of the Water & Wastewater App has been helping engineers access accurate and up-to-date coatings information via mobile technology. The new smartphone version of the app makes access to that data even more convenient.
The app provides on-the-go protective coating recommendations for more than 35 functional areas across six water and wastewater operations, including: conventional water treatment, membrane water/wastewater treatment, water storage, water conveyance, sewer collection, and wastewater treatment.
Within the app, users can select the type of functional area in need of coating, such as sewer collection systems, digesters, and clarifiers. Users can then click labeled areas of the plant to view specific coating recommendations. The recommendations include a primary coating system (primer, intermediate coat, and topcoat), the appropriate dry film thickness for each coat, and the total mils for the system. Results include surface preparation tips and descriptions of coating application processes. Users can also click
on product names to view detailed product data sheets.
“Repairing or rehabilitating a water or wastewater asset requires careful consideration of the substrates involved, the operating conditions, and many other variables that impact selection of the right coating system,” said Kevin Morris, Market Segment Director, Water & Wastewater, Sherwin-Williams Protective & Marine Coatings. “Water and wastewater professionals have demonstrated a desire to have this data readily available to answer their coating specification questions. With the smartphone app, we’re making it even easier to access this data so they’re never far from an answer.” The Water & Wastewater App is optimized for all iOS and Android tablets and smartphones and will be updated as new products are introduced or old products are no longer available.
