The Chemical Coaters Association International has announced that several CCAI chapters held events during the month of December to benefit charitable organizations. This year the Southern California Chapter, the Central States Chapter and the Wisconsin Chapter conducted toy drives during their December chapter events. In addition, the chapters made cash donations to their local charity organizations.
The Southern California Chapter held its 5th Annual Toys for Tots Golf Outing on December 5th in Pasadena, CA. There were approximately 70 golfers who participated in the outing and toy drive. Sixteen marines attended to help collect toys. Chapter president Ron Lum was especially pleased to report they collected a record-breaking 662 toys this year. The evening festivities were sponsored by Sundial Powder Coatings and held at Kings Row Gastropub where attendees gathered for an amazing close to the day's events with dinner and award presentations.
The Central States Chapter held a dinner meeting alongside their annual Toys for Tots campaign. The meeting included a presentation by Tim Welch with AZZ Galvanizing on Natina steel, a surface treatment that chemically reacts with galvanizing to create a rustic brown finish that blends into surroundings for a more aesthetically pleasing appearance. More than 20 people attended the event where several hundred dollars in toys was collected. The chapter made an additional $250 donation to make for happier holidays for children in the Kansas City area.
For the second year, the Wisconsin Chapter conducted a toy drive during their December meeting. They collected over 500 toys, more than double from last year, for the Kids 2 Kids Program. They were also excited to present a chapter donation of $500. A few companies in the chapter held internal toy drives and members from the chapter delivered the toys in person to the local Kids 2 Kids organization. The chapter is proud of the terrific community support and looks forward to watching this effort grow every year.
Executive Director of CCAI Anne Goyer remarks, “We are fortunate to have so many thoughtful and generous members throughout the industry and we’re proud that CCAI can support local charities, especially those for children. It’s heartwarming to hear the stories from our chapters across the country.”
