Vermont Natural Coatings and Norton Abrasives are expanding their Sand and Finish School program to offer more professional contractor training schools with broadened reach. After welcoming dozens of flooring professionals to Vermont in 2015 and 2016 for classes, contractors can now learn about PolyWhey Professional Wood Floor Finishes and Norton Abrasives at one of eight schools taking place throughout the US and Canada.
“We’re excited to offer more classes than ever before,” says Bob Goldstein, a Professional Floor Technician for Vermont Natural Coatings and a certified instructor and inspector for NWFA . “We’re offering several expert level classes in addition to our advanced level classes to allow seasoned contractors to master their skills in a setting that lets them experiment and share experiences.”
The Sand and Finish Classes will take place in Kansas City (Kansas), Vancouver, Denver, St. Louis and Hardwick, Vermont. Classes will also include collaborations with LÄGLER North America and distributors including The Master’s Craft.
Advanced classes cover topics including techniques for minimizing scratch patterns, achieving optimal sanding on all species of wood and parquet floors, best practices for working with water-based finishes to achieve flawless results, and how to make seamless repairs in stained floors. Expert classes also include work with patterned floors, custom colors, bleaches, dyes and more. Small class sizes ensure attendees receive personalized attention from instructors and hands-on experience with the products. In addition, each company that signs up will receive $100 in free abrasives.
