W. R. Grace & Co., a global innovator in technologies for coatings, will feature solutions designed to meet today’s environmental coatings needs at the European Coatings Show in Nuremberg, Germany from April 4-6, 2017.
Grace’s exhibit will showcase new technologies for waterborne and UV wood coatings, including products to create alternatives with lower VOC (volatile organic compounds). Grace will feature its new SYLOID RAD 3007 matting agent for UV wood coatings and SHEILDEX anti-corrosive pigments.
“Consumers today demand coatings that are smarter and more environmentally friendly. Grace continues to innovate with our expertise in silica technology to provide products that offer superior value to the coatings industry,” said Jim Bowler, Coatings Global Marketing Manager at Grace.
In addition to its exhibits, Grace’s coatings formulation expertise also will be on display. Technical Customer Service Managers Dave Kent and Uwe Ferner will present, respectively, “Addressing the Challenges of UV Curing Coatings” (April 4 at 11:30 a.m. local time) and “Submicron Silica Dispersions: Unique Porous Silicas for Diverse Coatings Applications” (April 5 at 10:30 a.m.) during the show.
Grace will exhibit in Hall 4 at the Exhibition Centre Nuremberg at Stand 4-339. As a green alternative to giveaways at its booth, Grace will make a donation to the Prima Klima weltweit tree planting organization in Germany.
Grace’s exhibit will promote the new SYLOID RAD 3007 matting agents for 100 percent VOC-free, radiation-cured coatings. This premium solution to the matting challenges of UV coatings offers high matting efficiency and previously difficult-to-achieve, low-gloss levels in coatings for furniture, wood, and PVC flooring. This innovation is designed to reduce VOC emissions and uses synthetic amorphous silica, a non-crystalline silica form.
More than 60 years ago, Grace pioneered the use of synthetic silica matting agents for industrial applications like coil coating and wood finishes. Today, SYLOID® silica products are the leading silica matting agents worldwide. Grace continues to innovate matting technologies and maintain its global leadership position in specialty silica gel that is used in a wide range of diverse applications and industries.
