Position Description:
- Provide manufacturing technical support for all USG Performance Substrates products using coating processes and technology. This position includes broad responsibilities for manufacturing process development and improvement, capital and capacity planning, and coordination with various USG departments, with emphasis on supporting process development goals.
- Responsible for coating application and drying processes
- Researching, developing and implementing tools and processes to improve paint/coatings system performance, quality, uptime and cost;
- Providing process troubleshooting support to coatings processes and implementing effective countermeasures;
- Implementing process control plans and driving improvements in all coatings process areas;
- Researching new processes and manufacturing technologies, coordinating procurement and implementation into manufacturing;
- Implementing and monitoring advanced quality planning and provide technical support as needed;
- Be trained to support USG Performance Substrates processes beyond those involving coatings;
Qualifications:
EDUCATION: Bachelors or Masters degree required; Chemical and/or Manufacturing Engineering preferred.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- 4+ years of industrial manufacturing experience;
- Demonstrated expertise in painting/coating application and drying technology and processes;
- Experience with manual and automated liquid paint applications;
- Experience with coatings dryers set-up and operation;
- Equipment specification, ordering, run-off, installation and qualification;
- Equipment and systems budget planning and tracking;
- Value Stream Mapping and Process Optimization;
- Project Management;
- Analytical ability at a high level to solve problems that are unusual and difficult;
- Strong leadership, interpersonal, communication and presentation skills;
- Able and willing to travel as needed to support product launches and solve technical problems;
- Demonstrated ability to perform in a wide variety of assignments and to actively participate and collaborate with team members to enhance team effectiveness.
