DuPont spin-off, Chemours was established in July 2015. Chemours is comprised of three business units – Titanium Technologies, Fluoroproducts, and Chemical Solutions – which had more than $6 billion in combined revenues in 2014.
Coatings World recently had the opportunity to speak with Peter O’Sullivan, the global leader for Titanium Dioxide Technologies at Chemours on the company’s business strategy. O’Sullivan said there is a renewed focus on the customer. “We’ve reintroduced ourselves,” he stated. “We are now more customer-centered. There is an element of focus and our customers are getting excited. Chemours has made investments in better understanding the needs of our customers.”
TiO2 is essential not only for paint and coatings but other industries. “In the past there has been uncertainly with suppliers,” O’Sullivan said. “There has been senior level interest in making sure there is a steady stream of supply.”
Chemours recently made an investment of more than $600 million at its Ti-Pure plant in Altamira, Mexico. This will significantly increase capacity starting in 2016. The plant will serve customers globally.
Chemours also recently introduced Ti-Pure One Coat system. It combines market insight, formulation expertise and innovative products such as Ti-Pure Select TS-6300 to expand the limits of its hiding power.
