AkzoNobel’s International Paint LLC, has introduced Devoe Bar-Rust 234P to the North American water and wastewater industry. According to the company, it is the first solvent-free epoxy, low-temperature potable water tank lining system designed to meet the industry’s need for low VOC compliance, without compromising performance.
The 100% solids, high build water tank lining system is ideal for new construction and rehabilitation installations because of its super fast cure, simple 2:1 mixing ratio, and single coat application capability—even in temperatures as low as 35°F. That translates into bigger project installation savings, a quicker return to service, and an extended painting season for areas with extreme weather conditions.
Devoe Bar-Rust 234P carries an NSF/ANSI 61 certification for potable water use and cures to a hard, high-gloss finish for a safe, clean, and maintenance-free installation. The system is applied with a plural airless sprayer directly to the water tank’s carbon or stainless steel interior, in a single coat of 25-50 mils DFT film build, or in two coats at 15-25 mils DFT film build per coat, with a maximum film thickness of 50 mils DFT. A convenient ¾ gallon repair kit is also available for smaller field repairs and can be easily mixed and applied with a brush or roll.
