Invista to expand Terate aromatic polyester polyol production at its manufacturing sites

Published August 16, 2012
Invista Specialty Materials is investing several million dollars at its two Terate aromatic polyester polyols manufacturing sites located in Wilmington, N.C., and Vlissingen, Netherlands. These investments involve upgrades to boost global production volumes of the Terate HT polyols product line to help meet growing global demand for Invista's aromatic polyester polyols. The chemistry that forms the basis for the Terate HT polyols platform is the culmination of several years of research and development, customer trials and feedback. Invista will produce Terate HT polyols and traditional Terate polyols at both sites. Invista produces Terate polyols for a variety of applications including polyurethane and polyisocyanurate foams as well as in coatings, adhesives, elastomers and sealants. Rigid polyurethane and polyisocyanurate foam systems applications include spray foam, insulated appliances, insulated metal panels and other areas that require polyol aromaticity to meet certain approval standards.
