Melamine Resins with Low Color

Clariant (France) has patented dimethoxy ethanal melamine resins with low color. The compositions contain 0.01-2 moles formaldehyde that are added to reactants before acidification and heating, and optionally, 0.01-4 moles polyol as specified, with one to 20 weight percent hydrophobic modifier.
