● Was your company’s fluorescent paint at the Olympics? It might have been. At the 2002 Olympics closing
ceremony, skaters splashed fluorescent paint on the ice creating what looked like a glow-in-the-dark
abstract painting. Dallas, TX-based Vari-Lite provided the lighting for event, which was held at Rice-
Eccles Stadium and was viewed by more than 23 million people.
The paint was “whipped up” by the prop department, according to a report published in The Dallas
Morning News.
