Cholesteric multi-layer effect pigments for paints, automotive coatings and inks, including security applications, have been patented by BASF AG. The pigments are obtained by producing laminate of cholesteric layers on either side of heat and/or pressure activated adhesive layer, and comminuting to required size. Preparation and uses are claimed.
