According to Bill McPherson, general manager of Akzo Nobel’s business unit powder coatings, the purchase bodes well with the company’s established customer base. “Many of our international customers have located their manufacturing in Mexico,” he said.

l A pair of privately owned Canadian paint companies have joined forces. Cloverdale Paint, Inc., based in Surrey British Columbia, has acquired Fargo Paint & Chemicals, an industrial and specialty architectural coatings company based in Calgary.
Cloverdale plans to run Fargo as a separate entity, maintaining its products, distribution and brands. Cloverdale will also continue to operate the Calgary manufacturing site. Dan Thomson, president and Larry Lozinski, vice president of operations and production at Fargo, will be responsible for day-to-day operations.
