Keep America Beautiful, a nonprofit organization, estimates that graffiti costs taxpayers more than $8 billion annually in cleanup expenses. The Graffiti Hurts program was created in 1995 through a grant from Sherwin-Williams.
“We are grateful to The Sherwin-Williams Company for their strong and continuing support in addressing this very important quality of life issue,” said Raymond Empson, president of Keep America Beautiful.
“Sherwin-Williams is proud to work with an organization which has a proven track record in mobilizing citizens to keep America beautiful,” said Christopher M. Connor, chairman and CEO. “Their success in educating Americans about the detriments of graffiti has been very beneficial to our society.
