In collaboration with DuPont Kabushiki Kaisha, DaimlerChrysler Japan (DCJ) is starting to make the switch to water-based paints at its vehicle preparation centers (VPCs) in Toyohashi and Hitachi.
The new process will first be applied to the Mercedes-Benz brilliant silver. DCJ plans to extend the process to cover the major paint finishes used by other brands under the control of DaimlerChrysler. In addition, the company will increase use of water-based products at the dealership level.
