Tego introduces
hydrophobing resins
Tego Coatings and Ink Additives has introduced Tego Phobe, a line of hydrophobing resins for mineral surfaces. Solvent-free, Tego Phobe 1400 and 1500N provide a water beading affecting topcoat formulations. Tego Phobe 1600 can increase water vapor permeability of these same systems. A combination of 1400 or 1500N with 1600 in a straight acrylic formulation can provide both a water beading affect and achieve good water-vapor permeability and low water absorption, according to the company. Tego Phobe resins can be added to a variety of waterborne silicate and silicone emulsion top coat formulations. Coatings formulated with these resins result in low-stress films with good adhesion and resistance to mold, algae and fungus.
