APE-Free surfactants
Rhodia has developed a number of new surfactants free of alkyl phenol ethoxylates (APE) to provide efficient alternatives to traditional systems in decorative coatings. Rhodapex LA 300 SB is a highly ethoxylated anionic emulsifier designed to improve latex chemical stability. It provides very versatile application benefits, including very low pour point and dioxane level, according to the company.
Rhodasurf 3065, a non ionic emulsifier designed for the emulsion polymerization of acrylic and styrene acrylic systems is especially effective in replacing APEs ethoxylated with 20 to 30 moles at the same usage level, according to the company.
