Noveon, Inc. has developed two new waterborne semi-elastomeric polymers, Carboset AE-960 and Carboset SA-860, that provide levels of efflorescence-resistance and dirt pickup-resistance for masonry coatings applications.
Carboset AE-960 (acrylic elastomer) and Carboset SA-860 (styrene acrylic) offer coatings with low film thickness, making them ideal for masonry applications where durability is important, but the system does not require the thick films of some coatings systems. Designed for non-coastal masonry applications, the two products can be used on concrete, block, brick, stucco, EIFS or fiber/cement board. In addition, these polymers also exhibit excellent weathering properties and superior alkali-resistance, resulting in longer coating life and lower maintenance costs, according to the company.
