The October issue of Coatings World is the CHINACOAT2012 Show Issue where we offer a Preview of the upcoming exhibition, which will take place Nov. 28-30 in Guangzhou. Each year CHINACOAT continues to grow and become more sophisticated, mirroring the industry it serves.
CHINACOAT is the key event for coatings, printing inks and adhesives suppliers who wish to enter, expand and consolidate their positions in the Chinese market. Approximately 900 exhibitors from 30 countries/regions will showcase their products and services in an exhibit area close to 60,000 square meters.
As this issue is heading to Guangzhou, we cover a lot of China ground beginning with our resident China guru Dan Watson’s look at China’s remarkable growth.
In “Does China’s Remarkable Growth Have Feet Of Clay?” beginning on page 56, Dan takes a close look at the slowdown China’s economy is experiencing. However, despite this slowdown China’s GDP growth is still expected to do well compared to other countries and is projected to deliver a relatively impressive seven to eight percent in 2012.
On page 50, a Q&A with Luke Johnson, senior research analyst at GCiS Strategic Research, provides an in depth look at China’s automotive coatings market. Luke delves into the differences between the repair and OEM coatings markets as well as the dynamics shaping each.
The paint, coatings, adhesives and sealants industries have put tremendous emphasis on the Chinese market. Even during the global recession that heavily impacted most of the world, the Chinese coatings industry grew.
The largest international manufacturers all have placed major stakes in China as they depend more on this growing market to grow their businesses. As China’s market continues to grow major paint makers like AkzoNobel, the world’s largest, continue to invest more dollars to expand their China operations. On page 42 we provide an update of what some of the major paint makers have been up to over the past year in the China market.
Is your company planning to enter the China market anytime soon? Are you already there? Let us know what your experience has been like. Better yet, if you’re going to be in Guangzhou come and stop by the Coatings World booth. We’d love to hear your story. See you in Guangzhou!
