As part of its global community engagement efforts, PPG has announced the completion of a COLORFUL COMMUNITIES project in Shanghai that helped to revitalize the fence and campus facilities of Yuyuan Road No.1 Primary School. The Colorful Communities program provides PPG volunteers and products along with financial contributions to bring color and vitality to communities where our company operates around the world. The program increases PPG’s commitment to invest in communities by adding $10 million to support efforts made during a 10-year period.
This project marked the third Colorful Communities project that PPG has completed in China as well as the one-year anniversary of the program’s official launch. It brought together more than 250 volunteers, including PPG employees and their families along with students and faculty of the Yuyuan Road No.1 Primary School and community representatives of the Changning District. They used MASTER’S MARK® paint by PPG to renovate the school’s exterior and interior fences as well as playground equipment. In addition, PPG sponsored refurbishing of the campus gate and metal fence and repainting of wooden shelves and sculptures.
“This Colorful Communities project not only allows PPG to engage with and beautify part of our Shanghai community but also provides a meaningful experience for our employees and offers them a great team-building opportunity,” said Mike Horton, PPG president, Asia Pacific. “As a responsible corporate citizen, PPG is committed to improving our communities and encouraging our employees to participate in activities that highlight our positive culture.”
After refurbishing the campus, PPG volunteers joined students of the school in activities to celebrate Children’s Day.
Cathy Yan, PPG general manager, corporate and government affairs, Asia Pacific, said, “PPG will roll out more Colorful Communities projects at Chinese sites to provide opportunities for our employees and their families to engage with and beautify local communities. Only by making joint efforts to improve our communities can we promote the sustainable development of our society.”
