USM’s annual technical conference covers wide range of technologies.

The University of Southern Mississippi (USM) is a leader in polymer development, and its annual technical conference focuses on a wide range of coatings technologies. Dr. James Rawlins, associate professor, Thames-Rawlins Research Group, School of Polymers and High Performance Materials, The University of Southern Mississippi, noted that the conference is unique in its approach to students.

“We have the premier technical conference on coatings,” Dr. Rawlins noted. “We are very student-focused. Our students help run the conference, and the conference proceeds go directly back to our program.”

Dr. Rawlins said that USM’s strength is in polymers.

“The University of Southern Mississippi is very highly regarded in polymers, polymer development, polymer synthesis and structure for coatings, composites and electrical materials,” he observed. “Our program is 45 years and going strong. We are here recruiting new technical talks and connecting with the global coatings industry.”
