Established in the 1950s, AZ Electronic Materials is a leading producer of high quality and high-purity specialty chemicals listed on the London Stock Exchange with headquarters in Luxembourg. We serve both the electronic and non-electronic markets. Our materials are widely used in integrated circuits (IC) and devices, flat panel displays (FPD), light-emitting diodes (LED), photolithographic printing, adhesives, pre-ceramic polymers, composites, paint and coatings. Innovation is the lifeblood of our business and the ultimate competitive advantage. AZ has six principal R&D centers in Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Germany, France and United States. AZ has a very strong intellectual property portfolio with over 2,200 patents granted. In 2012, some 81% of revenue of AZ derived from products with patented technology. AZ operates polysilazane production facilities in Germany, Japan and India.

Polysilazanes are polymers consisting of silicon, nitrogen, hydrogen and, in the case of organopolysilazanes, carbon. Such polymers can be considered either inorganic (perhydropolysilazanes) or organic (organopolysilazanes) in nature and have both silicon and nitrogen atoms in their backbone. Polysilazane-based coatings can be modified to make protective layer:
• Hydrophobic coatings - water contact angle can be up to 120 degrees with
OPSZ (Organic Polysilazane Resins)
• Hydrophilic coatings - water contact angle smaller than 10 degrees with
PHPS (Perhydropolysilazanes Resins)

Based on its unique polysilazane technology platform, AZ Electronic Materials offers a wide range of products specifically designed to form extremely thin yet durable matrix layers that can be employed as coatings. Moreover, AZ Electronic Materials is the only manufacturer worldwide offering the entire range of organic and inorganic polysilazanes at commercial scale.
For special applications of Durazane or if you require a custom formulation, our Research Department is happy to work with you to solve your problem.
