PPG announced that employee and matching company donations totaling more than $60,000 (430,000 RMB) are supporting reopening programs at 18 schools in the Yunnan and Jiangxi provinces in China, bringing the company’s total financial support for COVID-19 response in that country to more than $203,000 (1.43 million RMB).

Using the employee and company-matched donations, the Chinese Red Cross Foundation purchased necessary supplies to help ensure the safe reopening of 18 schools. Items included surgical masks, thermometer guns, disinfecting gels, mist disinfection machines and smart thermometers.

Shortly after the outbreak of COVID-19 in China, PPG donated more than $143,000 (1 million RMB) to the Chinese Red Cross Foundation to assist with mid- to long-term recovery efforts. This included providing financial support to more than 330 healthcare workers in Wuhan No.1 Hospital through a humanitarian relief fund.

PPG also donated more than 290 gallons (about 1,100 liters) of MASTER’S MARK anti-bacterial interior latex coatings to Shanghai Tong Ren Hospital for the renovation of the hospital’s medical facilities.

“We truly appreciate the dedication of frontline healthcare workers during the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Cathy Yan, PPG GM, corporate and government affairs, Asia Pacific. “We are also proud that the generosity of our employees will help ensure a safe reopening of schools in communities that many of us call home.”
