Diamond Vogel Paint’s 2017 Color of the Year is Ocean Storms (0506), a confident blue-gray from their ColorEssentials Collection. “This muted blue combines the best of two trends, the popularity of blue that denotes classic styling along with the appeal of restful gray that delivers easy living and modern flair,” explains Sandy Agar-Studelska, colorist and Diamond Vogel Color Marketing Manager. “Ocean Storms is a versatile choice as Color of the Year for its confident presence, yet simple style.”
Ocean Storms can be used in both interior and exterior settings. For interiors, this restful blue delivers a modern vibe, a great color to showcase furniture, artwork and accents without overwhelming. Blues in all tones have continued to trend, but with the popularity of gray, Ocean Storms delivers both trends in one great color. For exterior settings, Ocean Storms is great as the central color and pairs well with white, cream and soft gray as well as charcoal for trim and accents. Exterior colors have been moving toward deep, rich tones and this hue fits this movement.
Diamond Vogel’s Color of the Year was selected based on votes from customers in a crowdsourcing event during the month of October. “Our customers rely on our color expertise, both in delivering the color they demand and for education on the newest trends. Those that specify color look for validation of the colors that are important to consumers,” according to Agar-Studelska. “In deciding our pick, we turned the conversation to our customers and asked for their help in selecting this important choice from four directional colors. Our customers spoke and Ocean Storms emerged as the color of choice.”
