The PPG Foundation said that it will award $290,000+ in undergraduate college scholarships for U.S. students through the company’s partnership with the National Merit Scholarship Program.
This includes 49 new four-year scholarships, 35 awards for the children of PPG employees and 14 awards for students who live in communities near the company’s facilities, according to Director of Corporate Communications Mark Silvey.
Eligibility is determined by Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) scores – the test must be taken in 11th grade – as well as other criteria.
Silvey said that students chosen by the National Merit Scholarship Corp. will received $1,500 annually for up to four years.
“We are delighted to continue our relationship, and our support of students who will become future leaders in industries such as advanced manufacturing,” said Sue Sloan, executive director of the PPG Foundation.
