Dr. George W. Ritter and David Youland have both joined the ChemQuest Group, Inc., the company announced.
For the past 35 years, much of Dr. Ritter’s work has been in adhesives applications development – a successful springboard to his innovations in polymer applications, combinations of dissimilar materials, bonding of high-temperature structural insulation systems, and corrosion control.
While teaming mostly with industrial clients, he also led technical programs with the U.S. Department of Defense involving all four services and the U.S. Coast Guard.
For nearly 25 years, Dr. Ritter was a principal engineer and technology leader at EWI, Inc. A frequent contributor to industry and professional society conferences, Dr. Ritter has presented and published fundamental studies in adhesive applications, surface chemistry, and adhesion science relating to surface preparations and joint design.
“I have known ChemQuest for decades and I look forward to working together more formally,” Dr. Ritter said. “I have always regarded ChemQuest at the top of its field, especially in the area of adhesives and coatings market analysis – and I’ve recommended them often."
“ChemQuest’s clients will tremendously benefit by Dr. George Ritter’s multi-faceted experience crossing over from coatings to adhesives in today’s leading markets,” ChemQuest CEO Dan Murad said. “George has had remarkable successes in composites-to-metals bonding, bonding of dissimilar metals, and ceramics for lightweight structures and armor, as well as medical bonding of plastics and metals.”
Youland joins Chemquest from Eastman Chemical Company, where he most recently led a global research team in the design and implementation of research and strategy projects that delivered market, customer and competitor insights to drive organic and inorganic growth.
From 2012 to 2016, Youland established and led the Research, Strategy and Competitive Intelligence function for Eastman's Plasticizer Business Organization that identified new revenue streams and increased its front-end product portfolio.
“While I was at Eastman, I worked with ChemQuest as a client and was always impressed with the depth of experience of the team and the meaningful insights that they were able to provide that enabled us to make informed strategic choices as we pursued growth opportunities," Youland said.
“Youland brings extensive specialty chemical research and business experience and has the unique ability to provide deep insights utilizing a common-sense approach that will benefit ChemQuest Technology Institute clients," Murad said. We enjoyed working with him at Eastman where we have completed over 100 projects over the past 30 years. We look forward to introducing him to our client-base and their individual objectives.”
