Hempel has a stated desire to lead the coatings industry in the sustainability space.
To drive this goal forward, the company appointed Dorthe Scherling Nielsen as head of Sustainability and Government Affairs.
"I’m very pleased to welcome someone of Dorthe’s caliber to the team. Hempel is on an exciting sustainability journey, not just internally but also externally," said Katarina Lindström, group VP and chief operating officer. "We want to do even more to help our customers achieve their sustainability goals and work with governments, academia and other organizations to set an ambitious sustainability agenda for the industry. Dorthe is the ideal person to lead this work."
Scherling Nielsen held leading positions at companies, including Vestas, Nike and Bestseller.
As head of Hempel’s Sustainability and Government Affairs team, Scherling Nielsen will lead the development and implementation of Hempel’s global sustainability and government affairs agendas, with a primary focus on Hempel’s value chain and a more proactive approach to government affairs.
“Coatings are essential to sustainability as they extend the useful lifetime of structures, buildings, equipment and other assets, and reduce maintenance requirements," she said. "This helps companies lower their carbon footprint. Hempel has a clear desire to make an even bigger difference, and I’m happy to be part of that work.”
