The Metro New York Printing Ink Association (MNYPIA) announces that their October 2024 meeting will be a tribute to Dan Shevkun, longtime Superior Ink employee, who has been named the twenty-first recipient of the club’s Anthony Mauriello award.
Dan Shevkun has spent his entire career in the ink business.
Starting in 1974, he worked in the laboratory of Lewis Roberts in Newark, NJ. In 1982 he was hired by Superior Printing Ink. He started out in manufacturing and moved into data and quality control, where he was key to the company’s earning ISO 9001 certification. Soon after, Shevkun was brought into Superior Printing Ink’s Safety and Environmental Team, eventually leading the department, and became a leading industry figure to NAPIM’s environmental, health and safety committees.
His tireless work for the industry culminated with him receiving a NAPIM Printing Ink Pioneer Award in 2017. In addition, Shevkun is a founding member of the Metro New York Printing Ink Association and also served as the golf chair and eventually president.
Fifty years later, Dan is now retired from the ink industry, He focuses on his family, grandchildren and what he calls the big four: golf, soccer, wine and food.
The meeting will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 30 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Il Villaggio Restaurant and will include an open bar reception and dinner. The cost to attend is $95. Il Villaggio Restaurant is located at 651 NJ Route 17 North, North Carlstadt NJ . Phone: 201-935-7733.
